“Cancel Culture” and Online Activism
In the online environment, the valorization or devaluation of art often slips into realms unrelated to the principles of aesthetics. Reconsidering a creation in relation to its author has become a common practice of Cancel Culture ideologies. Artists – from all areas of creation – are judget through the filter of values, opinions and beliefs that they convey. As “cancellation” becomes a practice or even a social phenomenon, we propose an inquiry into the conditions under which theatrical performances intersect the path of freedom and the restriction of opinions and themes addressed.
