“Tartuffe”, 1962 - Inaugural Performance of the Studio Theatre in Târgu Mureş in the Light of Romanian and Hungarian Criticism
When I tried to reconstruct the key scenes of the inaugural performance with the help of some contemporary reviews and performance photos, I noticed that the Romanian critical reception of the performance provides much more support for the reconsideration of the actors' performance than the critical reflections published in the Hungarian press. Using photographs of the performance by József Marx, I tried to outline the differences between the two approaches.
