Theatrical Language and the Living Logos: A Non-Representational Aesthetic I. The Phenomenology of Voice... Beyond Representation
In the context of an attempt to outline the specific features of theatrical language as a living expression of the performance of life, this study focuses on the concept of voice from the perspective of a phenomenology for which the notion of representation can no longer determine or validate the aesthetic (i.e. creative and timeless/anhistorical) status of stage production. In such an order of ideas, the voice is the expression of language as a sensual phenomenon (a mode of expression which lies beyond representation). It equally marks the dialogic opening of any interiority to the world. The voice expresses the intention of a theater that 'hides' the referential meaning of the text (namely, any logical-rational explanation), of a theater that does not merely (and mimetically) seek to re-present reality, but endeavors to simply allow it to appear.
