Artistic Research and the Building of an Ecosystem of Knowledge
The editorial examines the development of artistic research in the context of recent transformations in European higher education and analyses the role of arts universities in consolidating an institutional framework for the production of knowledge through artistic practice. Starting from the concept of an „artistic research ecosystem“, the text argues that the advancement of research in the performing arts requires the integration of innovative methodologies, research infrastructures, interdisciplinary collaboration, and artistic practice within a coherent academic framework. The editorial situates the publication of the present issue of Cercetări teatrale within the context of the CNFIS-FDI project "Artistic Research in the Twenty-First Century: Creating an Ecosystem of Academic Excellence" and highlights the contribution of the published studies to the development of contemporary artistic research. By outlining the methodological directions represented in the volume and reflecting on the role of the journal as a platform for academic dialogue, the editorial proposes an understanding of artistic research as a strategic dimension of arts universities and as an essential factor in the consolidation of an institutional research culture.
