The volume proposes both a historical perspective on the fool in his various poses but also an analysis of dimensions that open up new meanings regarding the art of theater. Jesters have appeared and still appear in history, culture and literature in many forms, which either provoke laughter or force us to answer uncomfortable questions. Even if we try to decipher and include the fool in a clear category, he slips through our fingers and, laughing, turns his mirror to the audience: after all, what is madness and who is the fool?
