Managing an Actor’s emotions
This study explores the role and management of emotions in the actor’s creative and performative process, drawing primarily on personal experience and peer-based qualitative research. Focusing on moments such as performances, castings, and examinations, the article analyses how emotions manifest physically and psychologically, and how they can become either constructive or disruptive. By combining self- reflection, observation of fellow actors, and references to acting theory, particularly Stanislavski’s approach, the study emphasizes the importance of individual strategies for emotional regulation. Emotions are understood as essential tools of the actor’s craft, directly influencing presence, authenticity, and communication with the audience. The research highlights emotional awareness as a key component in achieving a balance between personal life and professional practice. Ultimately, the article argues that learning to manage emotions is fundamental to artistic growth and sustainability in acting.
