Rezumat

Psychological Safety in the Creative Workshop: from Safe Space and Space for Courage to Space for Growth
In this article, I examine the emergence and connotations of safe space in academic and other educational contexts, as well as the criticisms that have been levelled at it and which have led to the emergence of the concept of space of courage. I compare the two concepts in terms of their meanings, for both students and teachers, as well as the various tools proposed for achieving each of these types of psychological spaces needed more than ever for group learning processes, but also for creation within a group. The article also reviews the main insights, extremely useful for group facilitators, contained in the concept of psychological safety, coined by Professor Amy Edmondson. At the end of the article, I plead for the use of another metaphor, which I consider more appropriate for the creative environment of the dramatic writing workshop, namely the growth space, inspired by the growth mindset theorized by Carol Dweck. Based on coordinates, insights and tools borrowed from all the concepts above, the growth space is the metaphorical psychological space that can be devised by each group according to their views of the world as well as their particular learning and creative needs.
