Abstract

The Impact of Drama Education on Adolescents Living in a Society Without Rituals
I seek to explore how the practical application of drama education can contribute to the emergence of rituality in the lives of adolescents, promoting a form of entertainment that is both engaging and developmental. Through this process, the focus may shift from self-actualization to communal existence and personal growth within that context. Today’s social environment is largely characterized by the absence of rituals, the human being of the 21st century is referred to as the "modern individual". My hypothesis is that the methods of drama education can—if not entirely—at least partially balance this shift in emphasis. The question remains: can an adolescent even begin to resist the attitudes demanded by capitalist ideology, especially when those attitudes promise to secure their future livelihood?
