Multicultural Approaches in Music Education: Cognitive and Socio-Cultural Dimensions
Education is a key element for a balanced society, and European cultural diversity strongly shapes educational policies. Countries like France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Sweden offer varied approaches to multiculturalism, ranging from secularism and special language courses to inclusive systems, multiculturalism integrated into the curriculum, and programs dedicated to immigrant students. Romania, although less diverse, faces challenges regarding the inclusion of minorities, especially the Roma community, which is affected by discrimination and school dropout. However, measures such as education in the mother tongue and support projects for integration are being implemented. The association „Proetnica” supports intercultural education through training and resources for teachers. The guide created in the project „Intercultural Dialogue-Educational Facilitator for Young Professionals” provides teachers with tools for addressing topics related to non-discrimination, intercultural dialogue and inclusion.
