This article argues that theatrical space is not a pre-existing container for performance but the very condition through which appearance becomes possible. Drawing on Plato’s khôra, Nishida’s basho, Heidegger’s topology of place, and Derrida’s critique of presence, it reconceives the stage as a non-substantial and constitutively unstable site of manifestation. The study introduces the concept of adiachrony to describe the non-chronological regime in which theatrical presence emerges as delay, withdrawal, and non-coincidence rather than plenary self-identity. Theatrical space thus appears as a topological threshold where body, visibility, language, and reception are co-constituted. In this perspective, theatre does not simply unfold in space; it is one of the privileged modes through which space itself comes to take place.
