About the Press
UArtPress Publishing House is the academic publishing house of the University of Arts of Târgu Mureș, having as its main object of activity the editing and publication of books, periodicals and other scientific, didactic, artistic and cultural works created within or for the benefit of the University. Through its editorial activity, UArtPress supports academic research, artistic creation, and the dissemination of their results to the university community, the cultural environment and the interested public.
The publishing house was founded in 2000, under the name University of Theater Art Publishing House, and in 2011, renamed to UArtPress. It is registered by the National Library of Romania and the International ISBN Agency, which allows it to publish academic and cultural volumes in accordance with national and international editorial standards.
UArtPress operates as a non-profit department of the University of Arts in Târgu Mureș. Publishing house and has no distinct legal personality. Its activity is carried out in accordance with the academic and artistic mission of the University, contributing to the promotion of research, creation and interdisciplinary dialogue in the field of arts.
Mission and objectives
The mission of UArtPress Publishing House is to create an interface for presenting the scientific research and artistic creation activity within UAT.
The object of activity is the editing, publication and dissemination of scientific publications (books, specialized periodicals, dictionaries, courses, textbooks, etc.) that capitalize on the results of scientific research or ensure the educational process, as well as artistic publications (original works or translations, literary works, dramaturgy, scripts, scores, art albums, etc.).
The publishing house mainly publishes publications in the fields of Theatre and Performing Arts, Music, respectively Cinema and Media, but may also produce other relevant academic or artistic publications that contribute to the national or universal heritage.
We publish in Romanian, Hungarian, English and French both in print and digital format (on physical or online media). The online products use a Creative Commons 4.0 CC BY license for the rights of use.
The objectives of the publishing house are:
- producing science, art and university publications at high professional standards;
- diversifying the ways of publishing books by including modern electronic formats, compatible with the requirements of current research.
- encouraging the publication of the latest results of scientific and artistic research, both by Romanian and foreign researchers;
- promoting interdisciplinary dialogue between the arts and sciences;
- supporting the study of performing arts and their history in the Transylvanian space, by capitalizing on the cultural and identity perspectives of the different communities and nationalities that have contributed to their development.
- providing relevant educational resources and materials to support the learning and professional development of students, teachers and professionals in the fields of publishing;
- facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas between theatre communities from different regions, cultures and social contexts, in order to encourage diversity and inter- and multicultural dialogue.
