Devising, a Shifting Point
Devising... maybe a result of a shifting paradigm of thought, of how we think about ourselves, the other and the society. A process that it turned out as a counter-cultural practice towards the knowledge and practices derived from a mind-body dichotomy and his derived aesthetics among differently perceived analogies. At stakes being actually the most fundamental and scientifically debated dichotomy, the one of Heart – Brain binomial. Devising may be a shifting paradigm of what we expect from theatre, that can work towards, or mediate the way we find, hold or save our needs regarding the quality of life that we thrive to understand and ask for ourselves. For me devising allows parts like science, performance or spirituality to become entangled so that they can reveal life, which most of the time escape our awareness. Then it shares the same process, on stage, with the audience, in order for them to explore, embody and celebrate the experience.
The present paper aims to transfer some of the scientific knowledge and the perspectives that are stated above in teaching terms towards academic space. A place where the training should be above all critical, spiritual- in terms of emotional education, scientific and political.
