Abstract

Facts and Secrets from the History of Lesson Concerts

What role do educational concerts have? They offer an opportunity for initiation, seeping knowledge and experiences into us. How is it possible for something tedious to turn into something exciting, thrilling? What if the effort made in this direction is merely an interpretation? Bence Szabolcsi`s work The Issues of Musical Current Language and Nikolaus Harnoncourt`s concepts of the baroque-classicist musical common treasury offer us an insight into this question. Pedagogy reconfirms that guidance is needed, especially among children and teenagers. Question after question, experience finally has its own say: facts, thoughts and tales from children`s lesson concerts `peppered` with backstage secrets right from the organizer.
