AI Instruments in the Production of the Documentary
This study explores the efficiency of the AI instruments in the production of the documentary Memory of the Print, currently produced by the national television and TVR Târgu Mureș. This audiovisual production is dedicated to the Romanian press history, brought to the present under the tv format of a daily newspapers review. Memory of the Print brings back the reality and atmosphere from the interwar period in Romania, using articles from the newspapers of the time, old video and audio illustration (from the National Film Archive, old photo collections, documentary databases and dramatizations). In this context, the AI instruments offer the possibility to diversify the old illustrations, by transforming the archive photos into short video sequences, very valuable, given the general limited amount of video recordings available from the XXth century. The research points to the fact that in the case of such historical tv documentaries, the AI instruments are still at the beginning in the development of necessary technology for the generation of „old” video content, specific to the first half of the XXth century, the case study proving that, at this moment, the results can be considered virtual fiction sequences or a technological video simulation of a moment from the past, based on a single proof of that particular moment, which is the photographic snapshop preserved in the archives.
